This policy applies to all customers, website visitors, and anyone who interacts with our business in the Wellington and Lower North Island region.

  • Website data — IP address, form submissions, and analytics data (non‑identifiable unless linked to an enquiry)

This aligns with IPP1 (purpose of collection) and the definition of personal information under NZ law.

  • From publicly available sources when necessary (e.g., verifying property access)

Where information is collected directly, we comply with IPP3.
Where collected indirectly, we comply with IPP3A.

We collect personal information to:

  • Provide, deliver, install, and service your cabin
  • Assess site suitability and safety
  • Complete compliance checks such as Electrical Warrant of Fitness (EWOF)
  • Communicate with you about your booking or enquiry
  • Manage billing, payments, and rental agreements
  • Improve our website and customer experience
  • Meet legal, insurance, and health & safety obligations
  • Conduct identity verification
  • Conduct credit checks to assess your rental application
  • Prevent fraud or misuse of our cabins

These purposes align with IPP1 and IPP10.


5. Credit checks and identity verification

If you apply to rent or buy a cabin, we may collect additional information to verify your identity and assess your creditworthiness. This may include:

  • Identification documents (driver licence, passport, proof of address)
  • Date of birth
  • Previous address history
  • Employment or income information (if provided)

We may disclose this information to:

  • Credit reporting agencies
  • Identity verification providers
  • Debt recovery services (if required)

This is done in accordance with the Credit Reporting Privacy Code 2020 and IPP11.

By submitting a rental application, you consent to these checks.


6. How we use your information

We use your information only for the purpose it was collected, unless another use is permitted under the Privacy Act.
This includes:

  • Coordinating delivery and pickup
  • Customer support
  • Internal business operations
  • Safety and compliance documentation
  • Credit assessment and identity verification

We do not sell personal information.


7. When we may share your information

We may share your personal information with trusted third parties only when necessary to deliver, maintain, or service your cabin. This includes:

  • Delivery and installation teams
  • Qualified electricians who complete EWOF checks, repairs, or safety work
  • Builders, assessors, or site‑access contractors
  • Payment service providers
  • Credit reporting agencies
  • Identity verification providers
  • Debt recovery services
  • Insurers or legal advisors
  • Government agencies where required by law

Any sharing of information is limited to what the contractor or agency needs to perform their work and is consistent with IPP11.

We do not disclose personal information outside New Zealand unless permitted under IPP12.


8. Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe, secure, and protected from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access, consistent with IPP5.
This includes:

  • Secure digital storage
  • Restricted staff access
  • Secure communication channels
  • Regular system monitoring

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you (IPP6)
  • Request corrections if you believe any information is inaccurate (IPP7)

Analytics data is not used to personally identify you unless you submit an enquiry.
