Back in 2016, a fateful coffee catch-up with a friend changed the course of our lives and led to the creation of Pencarrow Cabins!
Strange how things work out, and 6 years on we’d never have dreamed of all the amazing memories we’ve built along the way to produce some of highest quality designer cabins available across the Wellington region and beyond.

The Pencarrow Story
What are Pencarrow Cabins?
Basically, a Pencarrow Cabin can be whatever you want it to be – extra space, home office, space at the bach, a home business, yoga studio, cafés, media room or anything else you can dream up! Our spaces are extremely versatile, and they can be used for almost anything!
At Pencarrow Cabins, quality matters – our small spaces are crafted from only NZ sourced materials and built by qualified tradespeople in our workshop in Porirua, all our buildings meet and exceed the highest building standards, but perhaps most importantly, we listen and work with you to ensure that together you get the right space solution that truly meets your needs.
The Faces Behind Pencarrow
The idea of creating high quality transportable buildings all started from a coffee with a friend of ours in Wellington. He was telling Jon a story about small spaces, recalling a mate of his’ experience which set off a ‘lightbulb’ moment and after a few (probably too many wines) on our deck, we started our journey. Early on this involved doing the required ‘due diligence, before getting to a point where we looked each other in the eye and said yep, let’s do it!
Early on, we were fortunate to have a supplier in Auckland who provided our first few cabins, and with the help of Jon’s father, who’s a qualified builder, we quickly evolved into constructing our cabins in Porirua, Wellington. The crew we met in those early days were truly amazing and most of whom are still with us today.
It’s certainly not been without its challenges, and boy we’ve learnt a lot along the way! But we’re proud to still call ourselves a wife and husband team, who have grown a little to have a dedicated group of awesome tradespeople and subbies, who combine to produce some of the best and highest quality cabins and small spaces around!
When people ask about the ‘why’, it’s an easy answer – it’s absolutely about the people and the experiences we’ve had over the last 6 years! We have been so lucky to meet so many amazing people who have all been generous and encouraging. By far the biggest kick we get is on delivery day – seeing the faces of people who have just had their accommodation or space needs solved is very, very cool!
